Deep Waters

Deep Waters

“Save me, O God! For the waters have come up to my throat. I sink in deep mire; there is no standing place; I have come into the watery depths, and a stream overflows me. I am weary of my crying; my throat is parched; my eyes fail while I wait for my God. Those who hate me without cause are more than the hairs of my head…” Psalm 69:1- 4 MEV

David’s problem began when he killed Goliath. Although young, nothing could stop the young shepherd who went on to become one of the most powerful soldiers in Saul’s army, awakening jealousy in those around him.

From one victory to the next, David was loved and hated by many.

In the book of Psalms you will come across verses in which David asks for protection from those who want to kill him … he says, “I am weary with my crying; my throat is dry; my eyes fail while I wait for my God.”

You may be facing the same situation now. Everything looks as if you are going to fail or be trapped by those who hate you. It is worse when those who want you to fail are from your family – your father, brother or even your mother.

You feel as though you need to cry for help. Take courage!

Do not be afraid. At this moment, the same God who saved King David is with you to show you the way.

You might be lonely and have no friends, but God is by your side and will certainly bless and protect you. It is not difficult to find people who will hate you without reason, especially so-called ‘friends’ who see you doing well. They will start to persecute you.

It is Jesus Christ who said: “I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:20 MEV

You are not alone. Be strong! Take courage. Your victory is near.
