The deep blue sea, so beautiful and so full of surprises… the cloudy grey skies, so grand and infinite… the variety of animals who live in such harmony, each one living its own life, caring for its own family and needs… the lovely and colourful flowers that beautify any place they’re in… the constant wind that refreshes on a hot summer’s day and the midday sun that makes the day so clear and bright…
Everything that is good and pure, that you see and feel, reveals a little of who God is. This perfect being chose to make these things for you and me, and yet we hear of people doubting His existence, or others who complain that they do not feel enough of His love, and still others who think that He exists to put them down, like a bad judge who’s just waiting to cast everyone into hell.
This is what I call true negativity. People usually run away from negative things, and yet, aren’t above feelings some of the most negative in the world? But this Great God still loves these people, despite their rejection and criticism; He’s like that father who loves his son so much that he endures his rebelliousness, his attitude problems, his rejection, his criticism, and so much more, in the name of love.
‘He’s my son’ he says, ‘I can’t change him and yet I love him.’ If there were anything this father could do to change this child’s life, he wouldn’t think twice about doing it.
“It was a painful and distressing time for Father and Son, but they did it.”
That is what God did on that Passover day many years ago. He had made every effort to help His children, from North to South, East to West, and yet nothing of all He had done was enough. So He sent His only Son, the One who thought the same way He thought, the One that loved His Children the same way He did, to leave His glorious place in heaven and come down to this rotten world to be sacrificed on Mount Calvary< for mankind.
It was a painful and distressing time for Father and Son, but they did it. Together, in one accord, they demonstrated the greatest love that could possibly exist: unconditional love… you know the one that is constant no matter how beaten, criticised, hated or humiliated you are. This was the last sign, the one sign for us to grab onto and believe in Him.
If only mankind believed… If there are Christians who at times, depending on the problems they’re facing, fail to believe, imagine those who grew up surrounded by negative thoughts of God?
Everything is so simple and clear, how can anyone doubt Him? Have you doubted His love for you? What else do you need from Him? A love letter? Read the Songs of Solomon 1.15. A gift? Read Acts 2.38. Assurance that He’s with you? Read Isaiah 41.10. Security of His love?
“…For he who touches you touches the apple of His eye.” Zec 2.8
You may be the most despised woman in this world…but you’re still the apple of His eye. All He asks of you is that you believe – is that too much to ask?
In faith,
