But Jesus said to them, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.” And they said to Him, “We have here only five loaves and two fish.” He said, “Bring them here to Me.” Then He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass. And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes. So they all ate and were filled, and they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments that remained.Matthew 14:16-20 (NKJV)
If you have 5,000 men plus women and children in the middle of the desert, where do you find food to feed so many people? The disciples did not know what to do except tell the Lord to dismiss them so they could look for food. Jesus Christ again offers the people one more chance to see God’s plans for them. They witness not only the miraculous multiplication of the bread and fish, but also how God desires to satisfy those who are hungry.
No matter how hard the situation is, how impossible the circumstances, if Jesus is in our life, there is no way we are going to lose the war. Even if we are surrounded by the most forceful enemy, God has the solution. He always has it. We therefore need to make a covenant with God at the Altar and live a life of obedience and submission. After all, to follow Jesus means to obey His words. If the people were not following Jesus at that time and were by themselves, who would have multiplied the bread and fish? You are right! No one would even have known that it could be done.
Now, it is up to you. Remaining by yourself means going hungry, thirsty and miserable. Or you can take a leap of faith and decide once and for all to surrender your life to God and thus obey His words from now on. If you do that right now, you will start a new journey with God. Although you will face trials and tribulations, you will certainly see God in your life and learn that everything is truly possible when we obey the word of God.
