My escape became an addiction

“I also had sores under feet. I went to the doctors several times but they could not diagnose what condition I had. I started drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes and dagga to try to lessen the pain I was feeling. I soon became addicted to alcohol, cigarettes and dagga.

Whenever I was drunk, I would become violent. I fought with my family and that affected our relationship. They also did not trust me because I would sell items from home to feed my addiction. I spent my whole salary on addiction. Things became very difficult after I was suspended from work because I arrived intoxicated from alcohol and dagga. I did not know how I would survive and I knew that I had to change.

My neighbour invited me to attend services in the Universal Church. I arrived in the church on a Tuesday and I attend the service. I started making chains of prayers for my healing and deliverance from addiction. After a month of persevering and using my faith, I was completely healed from the sores under my feet. I also stopped smoking and drinking alcohol.

My life has changed. I am no longer a violent person. I have a good relationship with my family. I no longer worry when I have problems because I know that God will guide me and help me overcome my challenges,” said Cleopas.
