2010: The good work continues

For more than 30 years the Universal Church’s social outreach groups have done what they can to help the community.

Many people enjoy the festive season when they visit families and relatives. The work of God is however never postponed by holiday periods and continues as many dedicated workers are always prepared to do more at all times.

There was non-stop work by Women in Action (WiA), the group formed by the wives of pastors and bishops of the Universal Church. In Maputo the women visited the Terebias Home for children in Catembe and the Khanimambo Home in Costa del Sol where they were greeted with joy by the children. The homes are part of a social work project run by WiA.

The Tiberias Home cares for about 100 children, the majority of whom are girls orphaned by HIV / AIDS. The Khanimambo Home helps about 300 children, boys and girls, who are given counselling and the opportunity to learn to make handicrafts.

Because of the money made by WiA from the sale of shawls (in a rectangular shape with African prints and known as kangas), substantial donations were made to both homes for their maintenance and the wellbeing of the children.

WiA have been selling shawls and other handmade articles to raise funds for orphanages and shelters across the country.
