Cancer awareness in Tanzania

Breast cancer is a leading cause of women death worldwide. About 7,4 million deaths were reported in 2004 and there are estimated deaths of about 12 million by the year 2030.

But most cancer deaths can be prevented with early detection. According to the Department of Health in Tanzania, many women lack adequate information about breast cancer, so they come to the hospital when it is too late, by then the prognosis is fatal.

For this reason on the 14th of October 2010 at 10am the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God hosted an event called Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign in partnership with MEWATA (Medical Women Association of Tanzania) where about 1000 women from Dar es Salaam region got together to receive instruction and guidance about prevention of Breast Cancer, its signs and etc. The Local Government also embraced the initiative and a panel of nurses was sent to assist all the people who were present with basic health examination.

Most of the people who took part in this event were extremely poor and they were highly excited because they were offered free examination and had nurses and doctors at their disposal.

Pastor Marcos Braga who was the mentor of the initiative addressed the people at the end of the event and share a word of faith with them, saying: “What is impossible with man is possible with God.” (Luke 18:27)

The people were told by the pastor that what the doctors and nurses could not do for them at that very same moment God who is the Doctor of all the Doctors could do, all they had to do was to believe, because to God there is nothing like an incurable disease, He is the creator, He can do all things in the life of the one who believe, than a prayer of faith was made and the people left the church extremely happy and with the assurance that if no one cares about them God does.
