Faith is the only currency of exchange with God. For every action of faith there is a reaction from God. And for each manifestation of faith there is an offering. In financial terms, faith requires a seed. Whoever has faith to give, has faith to receive.
The simple action of planting is already a demonstration of the practice of faith. Nobody in his or her right mind would risk planting something in the sand. Before starting to plant, a farmer prepares the land for the seeds. The same principle applies in the work of God – the faithful believe that His work is fruitful “land”, and so they invest in it because they trust in His divine promises.
As the promises of God cannot be revoked, a faithful investor has the full assurance of a return on his investment.
It is impossible for the financial promises of God to come true as a result of prayers, fasting and vigils alone. If they did, everyone that ever prayed would be rich. God requires practical attitudes of faith to go along with His promises. This is madness for those who are lost, but for those who believe His promises, it is the power of God.
People are constantly exchanging money for houses, cars and many other things. But the only currency to obtain God’s blessings is faith. From the very moment a person expresses his faith in God’s divine promises and places an offering on the altar, he is manifesting his faith. Though he doesn’t see God, he has the courage to place the fruit of his work on the altar. This is practical faith!
Giving is stimulated by the belief of a multiplied reward. The Lord Jesus teaches us this when He says, “Give and it will be given to you.” (Luke 6:38)
How much will the financial return be? Ten times more? Twenty? Thirty? How much? The Lord Jesus doesn’t mention numbers; He only says, “…It will be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will be put into your bosom.” (Luke 6:38)
When He spoke these words He was teaching the idea of exchange. In the same way people exchange money or goods for grain, faith is the currency of exchange in our relationship with God.
Everything in life requires the act of exchange. Through it God allows everybody to make his or her own decision of faith. Throughout the Bible, God always gives this condition: “All these blessings will come upon you and accompany you if you obey the LORD your God.” (Deuteronomy 28:2)
