Universal News visits the set of the Workers Prayer television programme.

The Universal Church of the Kingdom of God in South Africa started TV broadcasts in 2002. The aim is to reach a wider audience with messages of faith and testimonies. The Church remains active in door-to-door evangelism, but TV broadcasts reach many more people in prisons, hospitals and homes countrywide.

Explanation of the significance of the glass of water.
The daily Worker’s Prayer programme ends with a prayer. Viewers are invited to pray and are encouraged to have a glass of water with them to participate in a practical way. The water is blessed during the time of prayer for the viewer to drink.
The Christian faith believes in and accepts miracles, some which change people’s lives and others which produce healing.
The Bible records accounts of people whose faith was so strong that they did not need any tangible action to ignite it. They simply believed that their prayers would be answered.
There were others who, although they believed, needed some physical sign from Jesus to confirm their faith.
There have always been people who need something tangible to help them with their spiritual faith. This is the purpose of the glass of water. For those who need a tangible, earthly action to focus their prayer and renew their faith, the blessing and drinking of the water is a helpful practical activity which helps to strengthen their spirituality and fire their faith.
