Making music with AMAHA

The Universal Church has partnered with AMAHA to help spread awareness of HIV/Aids at the New Year’s Eve Celebration

For years, AMAHA (African Musicians Against HIV/Aids) has been linked with various projects aiming at spreading awareness around prevention and awareness of HIV/Aids.

AMAHA is an organisation of top Jazz, gospel, traditional, hip hop and Kwaito musicians that include: Stimela, Ringo Madlingozi, Rebecca Malope, Zola, Mdu, Solly Moholo, Deborah Fraser, Oleseng, Malaika, Kabelo, Ihashi Elimhlope, Bongo Maffin, Doc Shebeleza, Arthur Mafokate and Pitch Black Afro, to name a few. These celebrities have pledged to use their individual public platforms to help inform people on HIV/Aids and other social ills.

The organisation has also partnered with many other projects such as raising R280,000 to buy school necessities for children in Mpumalanga, Limpopo and North West and donating 10 000 food hampers, called “baskets of love” to poor families.

“We urge other musicians to show commitment in improving the lives of the poor and senior citizens and work with SABC and other social development projects in the regions,” said founder of AMAHA and well-known musician, Doc Shebeleza in an interview.

The UCKG is committed to working together with AMAHA. The partnership with this organisation will further certainly help South Africans understand the importance of knowing their HIV status and also how to take care if they’re already infected with the virus.
