All Answers Event in La Rochelle
In La Rochelle,Johannesburg, members and visitors were encouraged to overcome their problems by removing all negative emotions. The bishop explained that sometimes emotions make people act impulsively when dealing with difficult situations.
“It’s easy to believe in God when you’re in the church. You’re in an environment that is positive. Yet when you go home, you face a more negative environment. Perhaps you’ll find your spouse drinking or your children misbehaving. In church you’ll hear: Your are blessed. But when you go home, you see the opposite of this statement. You’ll see your wallet empty, your debts accumulating and your situation worsening. But the key is to have faith even when you see things are not going your way. It’s like learning a new language. You have to change the way you think, the way you speak and sometimes even the way you act!
“This how one leans the language of faith. You have to say: Yes I see my problem, I see my weakness, but I will not give in to doubting. God is with me and I will overcome.
It will be very tough in the beginning, but once you get used to speaking words of faith, you’ll turn your weakness into your strength. If you speak what is good and positive, it will be hard for the problems to overwhelm you,” said Bishop Marcelo.
The All Answers Event will take place all over South Africa. For more information on the times and dates for this event, go to www.uckg.org.za or call our Helpline on 0861 330 320.
All Answers Event in Durban
“Today I learnt that I don’t have to depend on my own strength, but to depend on God. The message preached by Bishop Marcelo inspired me to trust in the Lord and not to be discouraged by the situation I am facing. I advise people to attend the All Answers event, because now I know that God can really change my life,” said Glynis, a UCKG member from Durban. Glynis was just one of thousands who attended the All Answers Event at the Curries Fountain Stadium on Saturday, 28 April in Durban.
The event started with performances by the Universal Gospel Choir, UCKG Durban’s choir and the Soweto Opera Quadro.
The service, led by Bishop Marcelo Pires, started with a special prayer on behalf of people who were facing very difficult situations. “Perhaps you are here today thinking that your life was meant to be miserable. You may even have contemplated suicide because you’ve tried everything to solve this problem. But I want to tell you that if you believe, God can give you freedom from this problem,” said the bishop.
The message of the day, read from 1 Kings 17, was aimed at helping people understand that there was no problem to big for God. “The widow in this story had little oil and flour. She knew that when it finished, she and her son would die. Perhaps this is your situation. You have little money or resources to take care of your family and you know that any day soon things will fall apart.
There seems to be no way out. But just like that widow who had no way out, you need to listen to the Word of God and obey his command. When Elijah said to her: ‘Do not fear … make me a small cake from it first, and bring it to me; and afterward make some for yourself and your son …’ (1 Kings 17:13) it was not easy. But because she listened and obeyed God’s instruction, her life changed forever. Her flour and oil did not run out and her family was taken care of. This can happen to you as well, but only if you listen and obey His Word,” concluded Bishop Marcelo.
The event ended with prayers for the family and a word of encouragement for those who were visiting the UCKG for the first time. They were invited to participate in the church services and told to never give up believing that their lives could change. “You are here because God wants you here. From now on you’re not going to cry because of your problems anymore. You will stop looking down on yourself and look towards Him. Think great, because your God is great,” said the bishop.
