The Universal Church of the Kingdom of God (UCKG) is to hold the greatest water baptism in South Africa. The baptism will take place on 4th February in all the provinces.
Pastor Percy who is responsible for the baptism courses in the Cenacle of the Holy Spirit in Johannesburg said: “The reason the church decided to conduct this big baptism is to encourage members to take this life changing step to give a fresh start in life”.
This event is open to all members of the church who fully understand the principles of being a Christian. The church is also conducting classes aimed to educate members about baptism. At the Cenacle of the Holy Spirit, the classes take place on Wednesdays and Sundays. However the baptism is not restricted to those who did not attend the class.
Bishop Macedo explains in one of his books called “In the footsteps of Jesus” that just as a funeral ceremony breaks the last tie between man and his earthly life, the same occurs when someone is baptised in water. It is a public termination of their natural life as they turn into a true Christian so that sin can no longer dominate their will.
Water Baptism is a turning point for those who truly want to start a new life with the Lord Jesus. “Whoever believes and is baptised will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.” (Mark 16:16)
