UCKG enter 2012 with praise

Millions of UCKG members around the world held a Night Vigil to welcome in the New Year on 31st December 2011.

Those who took part in the third fast of Daniel for 2011 sought the Holy Spirit during the night vigil. This fast encouraged participants to abstain from various forms of entertainment such as watching television and browsing the internet.

The Fast of Daniel brought about many changes for many people like Anna, a UCKG member in Cape Town.

“I used to smoke and drink with my boyfriend. We always fought and he would insult me. Our relationship became sour and was characterised by abuse. The situation grew worse and I later developed a deep-seated grudge against him,” said Anna.

Despite the problems they had, they ended up getting married in 2007. Her husband was later invited to join the UCKG. Anna started to notice changes in his behaviour as he no longer drank and smoked, but she still could not forgive him.

She lived with the grudge for five years until she started to come to the church with her husband.

“In one of the services, a man of God spoke about forgiveness. Years of bitterness had closed my heart to forgiving my husband,” she explained.

Anna kept on coming to church and believed that somehow God would help her forgive the man she loved. In April last year she heard about the Fast of Daniel and she took part.

“God spoke to me about forgiveness, then I realised I had to forgive my husband. I opened my heart and sought God’s help. I understood that I had to first forgive myself before I could forgive him. God honoured my faith and I was able to forgive him. I also had an encounter with God as I was baptised with the Holy Spirit during the 21-day fast of Daniel,” she concluded.

God restored peace and love in her marriage. Today Anna and her husband are enjoying a blessed marriage life.
