The dust from the earthquake that hit Haiti on January 12th had not yet settled when pastors and volunteers from The Universal Church started helping the victims.

Universal.org reported earlier that our church building sustained very minor damage and that all church staff on the island were well and safe. As soon as the pastors ensured the safety of their immediate families, they started helping rescue people from the rubble and also giving spiritual support to survivors who were in shock.

The 7.0-magnitude earthquake left the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere in even greater misery. Besides the high number of deaths and injured, survivors struggle without even the basics like water, food, clothes, and shelter. The Church is joining with other relief organizations to give help to all regardless of their religion.

The Universal Church in Haiti’s neighboring country, the Dominican Republic, has also been giving financial and spiritual support, and sending volunteers to help.

Church members around the world have also expressed a strong desire to help in some way. Haitian authorities and relief organizations advise anyone wanting to help that all aid come in the form of money, volunteers, or blood donations. To ensure help arrives quickly and in an organized manner, they advise that all help be sent through major relief organizations such as the Red Cross.
