Asking at Ellis Park and Johannesburg Stadium
JOHANNESBURG – Thousands gathered at Ellis Park Stadium on Good Friday 6th April, for one of the biggest events held by the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God (UCKG).

The stadium, which hosted seven games of the 2010 World Cup, was filled to its 62,567 capacity with UCKG members and visitors. The Ask Event was an opportunity for people to gather in one faith and with one goal in mind: to Ask believing that Jesus would answer them.
The message of the day was read from Matthew 28:20 ” … I am with you always, even to the end of the age …” (NKJV) The purpose of the day’s message was to show the difference between those who only focus on their problems (therefore, failing to act on their faith) and those who focus on solving their problems.
Bishop Marcelo Pires, responsible for the evangelistic work in South Africa, explained that this promise of God is a tool available for us in difficult times. This is the tool that gives us the authority to overcome the doubts. However, the ability to use this tool with success comes only when there is an encounter with God. The meeting ended with a prayer for people to encounter God in this way.
Due to the large number of people arriving on the day, the gates of the stadium were closed before the meeting officially began. Those who did not enter Ellis Park Stadium were redirected to the second venue, Johannesburg Stadium, located right next to Ellis Park Stadium. Approximately 20,000 people were accommodated in this stadium and watched the live transmission of the event through the big screens.
