Night Vigil of Power

The Universal Church in Soweto was filled to capacity for the Night Vigil of Power on Friday 13 October.  The aim of the night vigil was to break the curses that were destroying people's lives.

Bishop Marcelo Pires, who oversees the work of the Universal Church in South Africa, opened with a prayer for people facing difficulties in their lives.

Based on the book of Psalms 23:4 "Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil", the Bishop prayed and asked God to send 23 angels to fight against spiritual problems such as sleepless nights, family problems, bad luck and witchcraft.

Explaining witchcraft he said that some people die before their actual time because of witchcraft performed in their lives.

"Some of the witchcraft that blocks people's lives is performed in graveyards. The aim is to destroy people’s marriages, curse their children, causing stagnation in other areas of their lives," he said.

He encouraged those present not to fear anything because God is always with them.

The night vigil was graced by the attendance of bishop Marcelo Crivella from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil who is one of the first Universal Church bishops who came to minister in South Africa more than ten years ago. Sharing a word of faith, Bishop Crivella spoke about the importance of love and sacrifice that God showed through His son Jesus Christ.

"God was the first person to sacrifice. We wouldn't be here if He didn’t sacrifice His only son, Jesus Christ to die for our sins," he said.

The Universal Gospel Choir kept all present entertained with songs and dance.
