Addiction to alcohol and dagga turned me into a disobedient teenager
Obert's addiction to alcohol and dagga turned him into a disobedient teenager and almost ruined his life.
"I started drinking at the age of 16 when I was doing grade 10. I went to parties with my friends on weekends and I did not take my studies seriously. We sometimes bunked classes and drank alcohol at school. My teachers complained about my bad behaviour, but that did not bother me. I eventually failed grade 10," said Obert.
A friend who knew of Obert’s battle with addiction invited him to the Universal Church in 2011.
"I attended the services with him because I wanted to change and live a better life. I took part in the chains of prayer on Fridays for my deliverance from alcohol. I surrendered my life to God and asked Him to give me courage to quit alcohol. That same month I was completely delivered from my addiction to alcohol and dagga. Last year, I started my own construction company and I hired nine people. God blessed me at the right time when I was sober minded to manage my business and finances," said Obert.
