Grudges held me in bondage

"My parents' separation left me angry and bitter. I was raised by my grandmother because my mother, a domestic worker, lived with her employers in another province.

I hated my father who refused to provide for me even though he had a well-paid job. I did not speak to him for years. I also did not have a healthy relationship with my mother," said Unathi.

My resentment towards my mother worsened after I had a health challenge.

I was 19 years old when I bled non-stop for almost a year.  I also had excruciating pains that left me rolling on the ground. My grandmother took me to different places in search of help, but my health did not improve. There were days when I could not afford to buy sanitary towels and I used old towels. That made me hate my mother because she was not there for me.

I was invited to the Universal Church in 1998 and engaged in chains of prayers on Tuesdays for my healing and Wednesdays for my spiritual development. The bleeding and the pains stopped after three months in the church. My healing miracle was what gave me strength to forgive my absent parents and I learned to lean on God for everything. I started building a relationship with my mother and father. We now enjoy each other's company. I live a peaceful life in the presence of God," said Unathi.
