Life became difficult when my mother passed away
Depending on the child support grant to put food on the table for a family of four was the most difficult thing for Mpho and her brother.
"Life became tough for me and my younger brother after my mother, the family breadwinner, passed away. My grandmother and uncle who cared for us were unemployed and we all depended on my younger brother's support grant. The food in the house was finished before month-end. It pained me to see my brother crying from hunger. My grandmother sent me to the shops in our neighbourhood to buy food on credit which she paid for when she received my brother's social grant money," said Mpho.
Seven years later her grandmother passed away and the two children were left to be raised by their unemployed uncle.
In 2015 Mpho was invited to the Universal Church by a cousin who knew of her financial struggle.
She took part in the chains of prayer on Mondays and asked God for a financial breakthrough.
"In the church, I learned how to use my faith and trust in God. I surrendered my problems into the hands of God and believed in His miracles. A year later, I was able to find a job in a salon and my life improved. I was able to buy food, clothes and things I could not afford before. Two years later my uncle found a job. I now lack nothing and I am grateful for what God has done in my life because He made it possible for me to live a better life," said Mpho.
