Our family went through a lot of turmoil. The chaos and financial struggles were overwhelming, and as the youngest of seven children, I felt helpless and tried to cling to my mother for support. I vividly remember one night when my father pushed my mother out of the house during an argument.
My parents separated when I was young and I was raised by my father and stepmother. My stepmother ill-treated me and that made me very angry. I did not care about anyone except myself.
Although Shane and Maria did not have good examples of marriage while growing up, that did not stop them from investing in their love lives. Today, they are happily married and live a fulfilled life.
