Tug of War
From the first day we decided to come to church right up to this very moment, we understood that God is great, absolutely invincible and that He will certainly grant us victory.
The understanding that nothing is impossible for those who believe in His promises became even more clear as we continued attending services and set off on the journey to conquer a new life.
Those who embrace the spirit of thinking big engage in activities that assist them to achieve their objectives and so many realise their dreams, but that does not happen to everyone who confesses their faith in the promises of God.
The reason behind their lack of accomplishment is that life starts in their minds and at its root is fear!
Fear works like a tug of war in their thoughts. While faith persuades them to go ahead, doubts are convincing them to go in a different direction. Things get even harder when they decide to start asking what their friends, family or colleagues think. Simply realising that there are many different opinions out there adds even more confusion.
Stop and think! How can you overcome problems on the outside, if you do not overcome the problems that are in your mind?
Thus, first you have to overcome your doubts, fear, anger, grudges, inferiority complex, depression or whatever you think you lack! You will NEVER win outside if you do not WIN inside! Once you decide to change your mind by faith, becoming determined about reaching your goals, then you will be ready to overcome the problems that are around you. This explains why you are losing the battle. You are going to war with doubts instead of faith.
"But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind." James 1:6
Yes, our thoughts become our actions, actions that will translate into a spirit of determination or a spirit of pessimism. Now you can see why you engage in chains of prayer in the church, but do not see results.
Although you participate in so much in the church, read the Bible, pray, yet nothing happens — you are losing the warfare inside you.
Let me highlight here that you will not be able to set things right unless you have the help of God.
"And it came to pass, at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near and said, "Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that You are God in Israel and I am Your servant, and that I have done all these things at Your word. Hear me, O Lord, hear me, that this people may know that You are the Lord God, and that You have turned their hearts back to You again."
Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood and the stones and the dust, and it licked up the water that was in the trench. Now when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces; and they said, "The Lord, He is God! The Lord, He is God!" 1 Kings 18:36-39
In the Scripture you see a partnership between Elijah and God. God guided Elijah, and he obeyed God's guidance, so the results could not be different—the fire came down!
Enter into the same partnership with God and just as the fire consumed the sacrifice, the wood, the stones and the water, the fire will consume the weakness that is in your mind! You will win both on the inside and the outside!
